Sonic headquarters and the Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology central laboratory are located at 14 Giffnock Ave, Macquarie Park, Sydney. They are housed in a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility incorporating unique design features and ultra modern equipment, including an automated specimen handling system. One of our goals, when planning our building, was to achieve 4.0 to 4.5 star Australian Building Greenhouse Rating (ABGR). In order to qualify for this specific rating, the building had to incorporate reduced and minimised energy consumption features, together with a range of energy-efficient and environmentally responsible systems.

DHM also maintains a number of metropolitan and regional laboratories which are strategically placed to offer comprehensive routine and emergency pathology services for doctors and private hospitals in those areas and to ensure a rapid turnaround of results. Currently, we have laboratories located in regional areas of Bathurst, Dubbo, Gosford, Mildura, Newcastle, Orange, Port Macquarie, Tamworth, Taree, Toronto and Wagga Wagga. The close association of our regional laboratories with our central laboratory gives referring doctors the convenience and efficiencies of local services, backed by the strength and resources of the largest private pathology facility in Australia.

As would be expected, our central laboratory provides comprehensive pathology testing as well as a wide range of specialised investigations in-house.

All our laboratories are of the highest standard and fully accredited with the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA).

A fundamental basis of our practice is that our referring doctors have ready and convenient access to our pathologists on a daily basis, for consultation and professional support.  The specialist pathologists at DHM offer an outstanding breadth and depth of expertise.  Many are involved in medical committees and infection-control committees in private hospitals.  They are involved in post-graduate education of general practitioners and various speciality groups.  As part of the DHMP commitment to medical education, several of our pathologists hold adjunct positions at the School of Medicine, University of Notre Dame, Sydney.
