The Position
This growing health care service currently has two Specialist Paediatrician vacancies. These positions are flexible and you can be appointed as a Staff Specialist or a VMO. The choice is yours!

Joining a team of 4 experienced paediatricians, you will have the opportunity to practice a wide range of paediatric medicine. The hospital has a brand new 16 bed paediatric unit, dedicated adolescent and palliative care spaces, an 8 bed special care nursery, and the ED is equipped with a purpose built 6 bed paediatric unit. The department sees level 4 paediatrics and level 3 neonates and there is room to develop your own area of specialist interest.

Your key responsibilities will include providing clinical care to patients within the hospital and the community. Additionally, you will conduct outpatient clinics and take part in the on-call roster. You will be supported by 24 hour junior paediatric staff cover.

You will also be required to actively contribute to paediatric service direction and planning and the effective management of resources. Utilising your leadership skills you will engage in Undergraduate and Postgraduate education activities and staff development programmes within the hospital and provide professional leadership for health professionals including participation in quality and risk management activities.

The Hospital
The hospital is the major rural referral hospital for the region.The University Department of Rural Health is located onsite, offering you an excellent opportunity to share your knowledge and skills and become involved in teaching and research activities. 

In July 2015, the hospital opened the doors to a brand new Acute Services Building, constructed with future growth in mind. The facility is home to the emergency department, the intensive care unit, operating theatres, children’s ward, maternity and birthing services. The ED sees 42,000 presentations pa (31% paediatrics) with 800 paediatric admissions and 1000 births pa.
