This fantastic opportunity is for 2 Emergency Medicine SMO’s to join a supportive multidisciplinary team. With a demonstrated ability to provide a high standard of appropriate clinical care in Emergency Medicine, you will support the Emergency Department and other areas as required. You will also provide leadership to interns, hospital medical officers and registrars. In Code Blue and Medical Emergency Team (MET) Call situations you will provide medical care including Advanced Life Support, airway/ventilation management, vascular access and other resuscitative treatments.
This health service has an Emergency Department that sees approximately 20,000 presentations annually in a region with a growing population. It is a health service which incorporates a long-established hospital with 51 acute beds, 17 sub-acute beds, a modern theatre suite, emergency department, short stay unit and maternity services. There are also various day units such as the newly built 10 chair Oncology/Medical Ambulatory Day Unit.
As the gateway to the Lakes and Wilderness region and only an easy 3 hour drive from Melbourne, this little city is situated in a major regional centre. Surrounded by pristine waterways, national park lands, sandy beaches and snow fields there are many great walking and outdoor activities for the adventurous to enjoy. As for those looking for a slower pace of life, why not make the most of the local wineries, brewery, restaurants and markets.
The city has a comprehensive range of schooling options including both public and private options at Primary and Secondary level. For older children and adults, tertiary education in the area is provided by the local TAFE. To be successful in applying for this position you must have General or Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or eligibility to obtain registration and appropriate working rights prior to commencement. You must also possess a current National Police Check.
