In this position, you will be responsible for managing the care of patients attending the Emergency Department in consultation with the responsible Registrars, Consultants, Nursing and Allied Health professionals. You will also be involved in liaising with other divisions and services of the hospital, to pursuit comprehensive health care for the community. You will also provide leadership to junior medical staff.
The hospital is the main referral facility for the district which serves a population of approximately 135,000 people. The hospital deals with accidents and retrievals from surrounding islands, mining and farming areas, making it a central and vital facility for the region with a large range of clinical presentations. The ED department has two resus bays, three high dependency bays, 20 consult rooms, a Short Stay Unit and Fast Track area with three consult rooms.
This tropical city, with a rich and colourful history, is known for its picture perfect ‘post card’ beaches and laid back environment. It has a good balance of modern facilities and amenities including a wide range of sporting facilities, including tennis courts, an Olympic pool and three excellent golf courses. As for water based activities, the many reefs that dot the coastline are a key attraction for the snorkelling and diving enthusiast.
Child-care centres in the area are dedicated to the safety and stimulation of children and the schools are all well-equipped and provide the highest level of education. With an excellent reputation for achieving outstanding academic results, there is the choice of State, Catholic and private schools, as well as schools for children with special needs.
