This is a fantastic opportunity for an ED Registrar (BPT) to further their training with an established and leading teaching hospital. In this position, you will be responsible for managing the care of patients attending the Emergency Department in consultation with the responsible Registrars, Consultants, Nursing and Allied Health professionals. You will also be involved in liaising with other divisions and services of the Health Service, to pursuit comprehensive health care for the community.
The hospital is a major teaching hospital and is also accredited for postgraduate medical training in Anaesthetics, Emergency, O & G, General Medicine, Surgery and Psychiatry. It has the busiest Emergency Department in the area which sees about 60,000 presentations annually with a 30% admission rate and 23% paediatrics cases.
This city has a fabulous atmosphere thanks to a vibrant migrant community and arts scene. It has something for everyone including world class galleries with travelling exhibitions and public art ‘treasures’ which are hidden all over the city.
It is also very well known for its amazing array of locally grown produce. The local central markets sell everything local from fruit visiting foodies, superb seafood, cheeses and everything in between creates a ‘must taste’ scenario for anyone with an appetite.
The city has a reputation for providing world class education and as such it forms an important part of the local economy. Marketed as a ‘Learning City’, it is home to one of the oldest universities in Australia. For younger students there is a large range of preschool, primary and secondary options offered both publically and privately.
There is a large variety of housing options available from beach side suburbs to large properties in the hills. Like most capital cities in Australia, demand for housing is high and as such, prices are elevated, although levels here have not reached those found in Sydney or Melbourne. The median price for a 3 bedroom house in is $500,000AUD and $340,000AUD for a 1 bedroom unit. The rental market is also healthy with a 1 bedroom unit and 3 bedroom house renting for $1000AUD per month and $1400AUD per month respectively.
To be successful in applying for this position you must have current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
