Bundaberg and surrounding areas, including the beach side towns of Bargara Beach and Moore Park Beach offer property and housing affordability, the beaches are mostly protected due to the close proximity also to Fraser Island, we are on the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef and there are various ocean focused recreational activities including Mon Repos turtle hatching rookery, Whale Watching, reef exploration especially at Lady Elliott Island and Bundaberg Region is close to Agnes Waters/Town of 1770 and Hervey Bay/Fraser Island.

The Bundaberg region is situated approximately four hours' drive and only a 45 minute flight north of Queensland's capital, Brisbane. The region covers more than 6,000 square kilometres and boasts diverse natural resources and facilities, reflected in its offshore, coastal, riverine, city, rural and protected environments. The area lays claim to the internationally renowned Southern Great Barrier Reef, Mon Repos Turtle Rookery and Bundaberg Rum. It is the commercial and service centre, as well as distribution point for the region. The Bundaberg region's notable features include equable climate, relaxed and inviting lifestyle, affordable living, modern shopping facilities, plentiful tourism destinations and diverse economic opportunities. Such factors, together with the friendliness of its residents, make this area a superb place to visit or reside in.
The moderate summer days give way to balmy tropical evenings. Average summer temperatures range from 20°C to 29°C. Winter days are mild and dry, averaging 22°C , with fewer than 18 wet days in the rainy season. The climatic conditions make it possible to enjoy the outdoors throughout the entire year from land sport, water sport, camping, hiking and so much more!

Practice Details

Our practice is a solo owned practice, with a current team of 6 doctors and has been at the same location in Bundaberg for nearly 90 years and has a very strong, long standing patient base, the position available comes with an already large patient base for the right doctor, female doctors are encouraged to apply.

The surgery was fully renovated in 1998 and recently undertook further renovations with the creation of purpose built x 2 GP Registrar rooms as well as improvements for those with a physical disability with undercover walkway, hand rail and double sized automatic door. The undercover, outside waiting area has been also purpose built for patients with a mental health issue that find waiting outside more comfortable.

Our practice is fully computerised, air conditioned, soundproofed and is equipped with an excellent standard of modern equipment including facilities for minor operations, including computerised Spirometry etc.

We employ 1 Practice Manager, 3 RN nurses including an accredited Pap Smear Nurse and Immunisation Nurses, 2 EEN, 6 highly skilled Administration staff that support clerical and reception staff.

Our nurses are also highly trained in Chronic Disease Management plans for General Practice, under Medicare and two nurses are delegated to this service 5 days per week to ensure quality patient care and ongoing support to our doctors

Our practice also employs the services of a Diabetes Educator, our other services include: Skin Cancer Management, Travel Medicine, Geriatric Care, home mediation reviews and home visits (as directed by our doctors), Pre-Employment medicals, including preferred practice for various large employee based companies, there is also capacity to conduct clinics of special interest to the doctor

The practice is accredited through AGPAL and recently obtains 'fully met' AGPAL Accreditation standard, July, 2016. Our practice is also accredited with ACCRM and JCU as a learning centre for GMT GP Registrars, we currently employ two GP Registrars (female).

The practice has a well equipped treatment room, including purpose built Minor Ops, ambulatory and ECG room as well as dressings room.

We are a discretionary Bulk Billing practice, pensioners, health care card, DVA card holders and children under the age of 16 years are bulk billed.

Our practice offers 24/7 appointment bookings service via an online appointment booking portal, as well as one on one bookings with our receptionists during usual practice hours

Position Description

The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a very progressive team, alongside 6 other doctors and 4 nurses, there is already established patient list for the right Doctor. The position is full time but we may be able to accommodate for a part-time Doctor.

After Hours

There is currently no after hours requirements, our patients are seen by House Call Doctor and the Friendlies Society Private Hospital After Hours service when our practice is closed.

Our normal operating hours are: Monday to Friday: 8am to 6pm (staggered starts and finishes for doctors), one rostered Saturday every 5 weeks - 8:30am to 12pm. There are no Sundays or public holidays.
