This is an exciting opportunity for a GP wanting to assist in improving the well-being of the local indigenous population. You will join a professional organisation that is expanding and growing within a community with great needs.
In practice, you will work across two clinics providing two days coverage in each clinic. The clinics are located in Heywood and Hamilton and are open Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:00. You will be joining a small team of dedicated GP’s who will be able to provide you with supervision and mentoring to assist you to understand the subtle cultural and community sensitivities you may encounter in an Aboriginal and Community Controlled Health Service.
AHPRA Registration – Limited (Level 3) – Specialist
Aboriginal Health experience will be an advantage

The Aboriginal Corporation clinic is a fully computerised practice comprising of two consulting rooms, and a treatment room. There are two other GP’s employed on a casual basis. In practice you will be supported by 1 EN Practice Nurse and 6 Aboriginal Health Workers alongside a strong referral network available in both Heywood and Hamilton. Other services available to assist with your treatment plans include Podiatry, Massage, Diabetes Education, Psychology, Dentistry and Substance assistance.
Located in the south-west of Victoria, you will be in close proximity to the larger communities of Portland, Port Fairy, Warrnambool and Hamilton. The area of Heywood includes many nature reserves and State National Parks for you to explore. An important cultural element of the area is the Budj Bim National Heritage Landscape that includes both the Tyrendarra Area and Mount Eccles Lake Condah Area. You will learn and understand the cultural importance to the Gunditjmara of the Condah Mission Station and aquaculture system for eel trapping. A short drive and you will be able to experience a wide variety of leisure activities to include dining on the local produce, shopping, relaxing on the beach, camping, canoeing and much more.
