Practice hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
Fees: Negotiable fee per day or 65% billings. Accommodation is provided and travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Role: Experienced locum required to cover annual leave at large group practice. There is a fairly even spread of patients across all ages however, the 45-79 years age group most often present. There are also quite a few paediatric patients. Corowa has a population of about 7,000 people and this is the main GP practice in the town. Fifteen-minute appointments.Practice Details:
Large group practice situated in purpose-built rooms in the Corowa Hospital Grounds. Contains 15 consulting rooms and a very modern procedural room, utility/sterilizing room, ECG room; all are well equipped. The team of eight full and part-time doctors are well supported by four nurses and practice staff. Together the team operate two practices; the main practice is in Corowa and a branch practice is in Rutherglen, which has two consulting rooms and a full-time nurse. Corowa Hospital has 15 beds in the acute ward, for acute medical and surgical patients. Also attached to the hospital is a 31 bed nursing home, anaesthetics, surgery and orthopaedics are performed in the Corowa Hospital, by both the local VMOs and visiting consultants.
There is also a visiting pediatrician and orthopedic surgeon attending on a regular basis. There is an allied health department within the hospital which caters to both inpatients and outpatients. There are also a further six hospitals within a 60 km radius which can be used for more complex and specialist cases, as well as an air ambulance service for transfer to Melbourne and Sydney, as necessary.
