Supportive well-established practice
Required dates: 16 – 27 July 2018, and 7 – 16 November 2018,
Practice hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, on-call 1:7 only
Fees: Negotiable daily fee or 70% billings. $175 per week night on-call, 100% billings.
Will provide required accommodation and cover travel costs or car hire.
Role: Locum for annual leave cover , you will provide medical treatments to a broad scope of patient demographics. Working in a patient-centric model of care you will provide additional services to aged care facilities and hold VMO responsibilities at the co-located health service. Participation in after hours and on-call roster is rostered co-operatively with other doctors in the town and triaged through the local hospital. The commitment is about 1 -2 nights per week.
Managed by Kerang District Health, the clinic has provided services to the local community for over 15 years and has recently undergone a $36.3M capital redevelopment along with the health service. Focusing on healthcare for all demographics and family medicine there is a predominance of aged care, paediatrics and chronic medical conditions.
The clinic is AGPAL accredited computerised teaching practice is housed in a spacious purpose built modern surgery comprising of six consulting rooms and one treatment room. Access to midwifery, counselling and psychology is available in clinic with other allied health services, and visiting specialists available at the co-located health service.
Three doctors are supported by enthusiastic and experienced staff including a practice manager, practice nurse and an administration team. The Clinic services the Kerang and District Health Service which provides “cradle to the grave” health support to the community. Services provided include A&E, outpatient department and aged care facilities support. The hospital has 24 obstetric, surgical and acute medical beds and the aged care facility has 30 high care beds. The hospital does not employ medical staff and A&E patients are seen by the GP on-call or transported to a larger hospital. There are 2 Nursing homes that are serviced by the clinic, one is a low-care, high-care, acute-care facility with 30 beds; the other is attached to the Health Service and offers palliative care
Kerang (population 4,000) is located in the mid north of Victoria and supports a region of approximately 18,000 people. Kerang is situated within an irrigation district which produces lucerne, grain and vegetable crops. Lester Smith Lookout Tower is on the Murray Valley Highway. This former water tower, built in 1883, dominates the town. Visitors are encouraged to climb to the top of the tower to view the exhibits and survey the fine view of Kerang and the surrounding lakes. At the base of the tower is a collection of steam-driven farm machinery.
Part of the Golden Rivers tourist destination, Kerang offers fishing, water skiing and inland sailing activities. Other leisure pursuits include bike riding, bird watching, camping, shooting and yabbying. There is a local aviation club with a flying instructor.
