The Position

A highly regarded Aboriginal health service is seeking a full time GP to join their team. This role will see you provide supervision to Registrars and work closely with their multidisciplinary team to deliver a holistic approach to health in the community. There are no VMO rights or on-call requirement; however you will be required to provide ad hoc home visits after hours. Experience working in Aboriginal Health will be highly regarded but is not a requirement.

In addition to working at the clinic, you will be required to also provide health services to the aged care facility owned by the cooperation. There will be time set aside specifically for scheduled appointments for patients at the facility.

  • AHPRA Registration – General or Specialist

Practice Details:

You will be supported by 3 other GPs, Aboriginal Health Workers, 4 Practice Nurses, experienced Administration staff, a Director of Clinical Services and Director of Health & Wellbeing. A Mental Health Nurse, visiting Psychologist, visiting Psychiatrist, visiting Physician, Paediatrician, visiting Midwife, Diabetes Educator, Endocrinologist, Maternal and Child Health Worker, Podiatrist, Dietitian and Optometrist are also available to the clinic.

The clinic has a total of 14 consulting rooms that are shared amongst the GPs, Allied Health staff and Practice Nurses. After the recent refurbishment, they now provide state of the art Dental services; Pathology services health promotion activities as well as a new Care Coordination service as part of a holistic model of care. As an accredited teaching practice, they are also able to provide appropriate mentoring for the successful GP.

Currently, operating hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm. You will be required to be On-Call during the 2 week Christmas Period when the clinic is closed. After Hours is only required when a GP needs carry out home visits.
