Position Description:

  • RRMA 4 – Eligible to access A1 Medicare rebate
  • Youth Health with emphasis on Mental health
  • Full or part-time opportunity, flexible hours

Role: You will have a key role in coordinating the physical, mental & sexual health care of young people aged 12-25 years, including a broad range of prevention, early intervention and treatments for a variety of youth conditions. This will include assessment & referral for drug & alcohol services & preventative health care. Hours are flexible to suit your needs and with an existing patient base this is a wonderful opportunity to up-skill or work with your passion for assisting young people. A true multi-disciplinary team environment with access to great support and resources.

Essential Criteria:

  • AHPRA Registration –Vocational or Specialist preffered
  • Australian health system experience
  • Passion for,or keen interest to up-skill in Youth and Mental health issues
  • Emergency skills and good diagnostic skills

The Package:

  • 6- 12 month Contract with options to extend
  • Negotiable salary dependent on experience

Practice Details:

Headspace is one of the region’s lead agencies in providing specialised ‘youth specific’ integrated primary care in Warrnambool, Portland & Hamilton. Headspace medical practice is co-located within the Community & Youth Complex and is supported by a multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, social workers, youth mental health clinicians & co-located drug & alcohol counsellors & vocational/educational support workers.

Currently two GPs and team of registrars are supported by practice manager & medical receptionists who provide a team environment that prides itself on youthful energy & the ability to build a loyal patient base.

State of the art facilities & resources are available for use by the GPs and attending clinicians, including Telehealth services for psychiatrist consultations.

The patient demographics at the medical clinic include a high proportion of mental & sexual health issues, women’s health & paediatrics.  A small number of procedures present in the clinic and services are also provided to local TAFE staff & students through an off-site service delivery.
