Physiotherapist- Hamilton

Western District Health Service (WDHS) is seeking a Grade 1 Physiotherapist to provide comprehensive physiotherapy services within a multi-disciplinary team to inpatients, ambulatory care and aged care facility residents.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible and accountable for providing a professional level of service to inpatients, outpatients and aged care and to ensure clinical services are effective, evidence-based and adhere to established clinical and safety standards;

  • Support clients and their families to enable better health management;

  • Provide chronic pain management interventions;

  • Measure, evaluate and modify the effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions, programs and present findings to the senior physiotherapists and chief physiotherapist;

  • The effective use of track care to document all aspects of care including education, progress notes and referrals to other health care providers;

  • Attend ward/patient care meetings and communicate appropriately with patients/families/other health care professions at all times;

  • Assist with clinical supervision and support for students on placement at Western District Health Service (work experience, AHA, undergraduate physiotherapy and re-entry); and,

  • Actively participate in internal and external professional development activities to meet and maintain professional competence and registration requirements.

Essential Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in physiotherapy

  • Current registration with AHPRA

  • Demonstrated ability with different case loads and patient demographics

  • Current Victorian Driver’s License

  • Victorian Working with Children’s Check

Western District Health Service (WDHS) is a sub-regional referral centre primarily for the Southern Grampians Shire and surrounding areas. WDHS provide a comprehensive range of acute, aged and primary health services to a catchment population of around 37,000.

WDHS has a total of 91 acute beds, 175 aged care and 35 independent living units, community, allied health services and youth services.

In 2010/11 WDHS treated 7,695 inpatients and 54,822 outpatients, 6,693 accident and emergency patients, 235 babies were born in our Midwifery Unit and 3,014 operations were performed. WDHS accommodated 178 high-care residents, 26 low-care residents, 151 respite residents and our occupancy rate in our aged care facilities was 98.25%. We serviced 39 CACPs clients.
