Are you passionate about the rights of victims of violence? We are looking for a Social Worker who can pioneer the implementation of this new position and enhance the way our health service provides an acute response to children, young people and adults who have been impacted by trauma, including violence, abuse and neglect.
Be a leader amongst your social work and multidisciplinary colleagues in the hospital setting! You will champion the need for a timely psycho-social and holistic response to child protection and domestic and family violence. You will provide assessment, case co-ordination, advocacy and consultation to those patients presenting with the need for trauma – focused crisis intervention. With your solid experience working in child protection and domestic and family violence system, you will be self-directed and have a strong understanding of the legislative and policy frameworks this field. Your strong commitment to the Close the Gap initiatives will be evident and inspire others.
You will be well assisted in this role with both training and support from your line manager and clinical co-ordinator. You will be a member of both the Northern Area Social Work Network (Moree and Armidale) and the Violence Prevention and Care Network which includes staff from other Child Protection Counselling Services, Sexual Assault Services and other related services. Both networks provide for clinical review meetings, individual and peer supervision and team meetings.

This is a Level 3 position. However, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflects the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.
