An opportunity exists for a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon with strong generalist skills to join one of Queensland’s Health Service. Compliment a team of 1.5 Staff Specialists, 2 VMO’s and an SMO, with an on call of 1:4/5. You will be strongly supported by 6 PHO’s and a rotating junior doctor. As part of your role you will be working across two public hospitals giving you a great opportunity for a varied workload and experience within the health service.
Across the Health Service, a range of specialty services are provided including acute care, surgical, medical, maternity, mental health rehabilitation and aged care services. Care is provided some major adult specialties and support to the surrounding smaller hospitals in the Health Service. The Health Service has a number of Multipurpose Health Services that provide access to integrated health and aged care services to smaller communities.
You will be working across two public hospitals with over 190 beds collectively. The sites are located a mere 35km leaving a limited amount travel required for this appointment with both working in close partnership to deliver high quality healthcare to the community. The teaching hospital has boastfully low student to teacher ratios, increased scrub ins and commended for valuing the presence of the students.
This Hospital and Health Service is well known for its relaxed lifestyle, natural beauty and local attractions.
Situated in close proximity to popular tourist attraction, you are perfectly positioned to relax and see the city at your leisure. Take advantage of these idyllic surroundings by utilising the nature strips to explore the eminent beauty of this region. If nature treks don’t tickle your fancy, a range of cosmopolitan and alfresco cafes, shops, parklands, picnic areas, and playgrounds dwell along the Esplanade and vibrant marina.
Unlike the size of the area, this community offers a significant range of educational choices at all levels; this includes multiple public and private primary and secondary schools plus a campus of the University of Southern Queensland offering degree level courses. Property in the region ranges from quaint beach side cottages and units to hinterland acreages.
To be successful in applying for this position you must hold FRACS. As a Senior Specialist you will provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients & clients; this will also include research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.
If you are unsure if you meet the selection criteria please forward a copy of your most recent resume and I will assess your eligibility and will advise you of your options.
