Karitane have been the leaders in parenting services since 1923. We provide support and education on the unique challenges of parenting to mums and dads with children from birth to 5 years of age. All our services are evidence based and delivered by a caring and highly trained professional team of child and family health nurses, paediatricians, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists offering complete holistic care.
Karitane support new parents around sleep and settling, establishing routines, feeding and nutrition, toddler behaviour and pre and postnatal anxiety and depression.
We are a registered charity, supported by the NSW Ministry of Health and the Department of Family & Community Services. In addition to our government funding, much of our work is thanks to donations from individuals and organisations.
Due to COVID-19 100% of our services from March 30th as a temporary measure are being delivered using Telehealth platforms. Training for new staff would be provided for using these Telehealth platforms.
Our caring healthcare professionals guide, support and educate families through our parenting centres, residential services, mental health services, specialised toddler clinics (now available via the internet), integrated care hubs, virtual home visits and community services.

Clinical Psychologist:

The services of Karitane is currently seeking a qualified Clinical Psychologist to provide treatment for children ages 14 months - 7 years old and their families.
Summary of this Role and Function.
The role of the Clinical Psychologist is to provide treatment for children ages 14 months -7 years old and their families. Primary treatment interventions will include Parent Child Interaction- Therapy (PCIT) and Parent Child Interaction Therapy- Toddlers (PCIT-T). Such services may be delivered in person or via telehealth. Additional responsibilities may include design and facilitation of novel adaptations of PCIT including, but not limited to, group PCIT, intensive PCIT, and PCIT for children with Autism spectrum and anxiety disorders, School based PCIT programs. The clinical psychologist will also be expected to assist in the supervision of other therapists delivering PCIT and PCIT-T. The candidate may be required to deliver therapeutic services to clients presenting to outpatient, residential, and brief consultation-based services and support quality and research initiatives.


Key Selection Criteria (Must be addressed in the application)

1. AHPRA registration as a Clinical Psychologist (Psychologist with Endorsement in Clinical Psychology). Doctoral-level qualification in psychology or clinical psychology is desirable.
2. Minimum Qualification as a PCIT Level 1 trainer.
3. Experience delivering PCIT and PCIT-T in person and via telehealth.
4. Intricate knowledge of PCIT research literature enabling design and implementation of adaptive forms of PCIT service delivery with diverse populations.
5. Knowledge of and experience delivering evidence-based interventions suitable for young children presenting with a range of behavioural and emotional concerns, particularly those related to behavioural parent training.
6. Knowledge and experience working with diverse populations including Aboriginal clients, clients receiving Department of Communities and Justice-related services, and OOHC
7. Knowledge and experience managing high-risk clinical crises including child protection concerns and suicidality.
8. Ability to understand, synthesize, interpret, and translate relevant research to clinical practice.
9. Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
10. Evidence of leadership, teamwork, supervision skills, and innovative implementation of clinical interventions in a fast-paced clinical environment.
