About the Role
To provide psychological assessment and evidence-based intervention for individuals and groups with diabetes mellitus. This will include mainly outpatient individually tailored treatment for diabetes related problems, development and delivery of group programmes and occasional inpatient consultation.
This position will be required to participate in the development and delivery of clinical services and interventions in the Diabetes Service for NBMLHD. The Diabetes Service sees inpatients, outpatients and community based members of the local population of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. It offers individual and group programmes across the local health district.
This position is actively involved in and leads quality improvement and service development activities, including supporting and contributing to relevant research linked to the NBMLHD Diabetes service. This position will work with the Physician, Dietitian, Physiotherapist, Administrative staff and nursing staff associated with the Diabetes service within the NBMLHD. The position will provide education, advice and support to patients and other clinicians regarding the psychological care of patients with diabetes mellitus.

Selection Criteria to be Addressed:
- Full registration with Psychology Board of AHPRA. Endorsement in Clinical Psychology and accredited post-graduate degree in clinical psychology.
- Theoretical knowledge of diabetes mellitus and the relationship between psychological factors and diabetes mellitus.
- Demonstrated ability to provide psychological assessment and deliver evidence based psychological treatment.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate group processes, identify and manage problems in relation to group dynamics and to promote and support team-based solutions.
- Demonstrated evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in providing clinical supervision to Psychologists / Clinical Psychologists and students.
- Evidence of leading and undertaking quality activities towards improving services and outcomes.
