GenHealth is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced female Psychologists for a part-time position at Coffs Harbour Women’s Health Centre.

GenHealth is lead agency of the Coffs Harbour Women's Health Centre, headspace Coffs Harbour and headspace Grafton.

The Coffs Harbour Women’s Health Centre (CHWHC) is a multi-disciplinary primary health care service servicing Coffs Harbour and surrounding areas. CHWHC is a not for profit community based service providing care to women and girls most at risk of ill health (culturally, socially, economically disadvantaged, with a disability, First Nations, , carers and victims of domestic and family violence). The Centre team includes General Practitioners, Women's Health Nurses, Psychologist, Physiotherapist, Dietitian, Health Promotion, Administration and Reception.

About the role

The Psychologist will be responsible for assessing and diagnosing psychological disorders, co-developing care plans with those seeking care, and providing evidence-based psychological therapies to women and girls referred by general practitioners (GPs) or via other referral pathways supported by funding streams.

The Psychologist will work collaboratively with the person seeking care, their family and friends and relevant clinicians including (but not limited to) GPs, other Allied Health Practitioners, Specialists, co-located partners and other services to ensure ongoing quality care.  These services will be delivered in a safe, friendly, courteous, confidential, supportive and professional way

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessment of women and girls who access the service and are referred to you, and, in collaboration with the woman (and where appropriate her family and friends) develop a therapeutic care plan
  • Provide evidence-based, focused psychological strategies (CBT, psycho-education, relaxation strategies, skills training, interpersonal therapy) to women and girls referred under a GP Mental Health Care Plan or under other funding arrangements, eg. WorkCover. This may also involve the development, facilitation and evaluation of group treatment programs.
  • Participate in case review meetings, contribute to care plans and participate in planned case conferences with the woman (and where appropriate her family and friends) GPs, other health professionals and care providers involved in the client’s care as required.
  • Development of documentation, such as but not limited to, reports and referral letters.

About you

You will be highly motivated and facilitate excellence in all aspects of your work, with proven experience in the assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders, and provision of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and other evidence-based focused psychological strategies.  You will also have strong organisational and time management skills, and the ability to work from a feminist perspective, or acknowledging the social determinants of health.

  • Female – being female is a genuine occupational qualification for this position in accordance with Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology and current registration with appropriate professional body (AHPRA)
  • Professional indemnity insurance
  • Eligibility to provide Medicare Benefits Schedule services
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of professional codes of conduct, ethics and values and to be aware of legislation which are relevant to young people, women across their lifespan and service delivery


  • Experience in working with women in domestic and family violence situations and other women who have experienced other forms of trauma; carers; and holder or possibility of registration for Victims of Crime therapies

  • Part-time position – flexibility to offer the right candidate either 2, 3, or 4 days per week
  • Available for immediate start
  • Salary for a Registered Psychologist will be within the range of Health Professional Level 3 pay points under the Health Professionals and Support Services Award depending on skills and experience.  A higher salary (over Award rate) is available for Clinical Psychologists  
  • Super Guarantee of 10% payable in addition to salary
  • Opportunity to receive internal clinical supervision
  • As a not-for-profit non-government organisation, GenHealth can offer eligible employees salary package benefits of up to $15,900 per annum + an additional $2,500 in meals, entertainment and holiday accommodation per annum
  • GenHealth complies with the Public Health (COVID 19 Vaccination of Health Care Workers) Order 2021 which requires health staff and persons working in health settings to be vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine unless they have a medical exemption as defined under the Public Health Order.
