Practice Information:
They opened the practice on 18th March 2002. The practice then built a new purpose built surgery, which includes a very spacious reception area, 5 consult rooms, 3 treatment rooms, a nurse’s station and mole mate room/video conference room. QML is now also on site at the practice. Currently they have 6 doctors working at the practice.
 
The services they provide include, general check-ups, family planning, pap smears, pregnancy tests, ECG’s, Heart Check, Counselling, Vaccinations-children and adults, minor surgery including suturings, removal of lesions, liquid nitrogen freezing of warts, pre-employment medicals, skin checks (using Mole mate), asthma management, diabetes, Audiometry, spirometry.
 
The practice also has visiting health professional’s use the rooms at the practice including Podiatrist, Diabetic Educator and Psychologist.
 
Their doctors all do Health Assessments, chronic disease care plans and Mental Health Care Plans. The practice nurses assist with the Health Assessments and Chronic Disease Care Plans. The practice bulk bills and the surgery hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm.
 
About Nanango
The town of Nanango has a General Hospital with 8 acute beds, 2 pharmacies, 2 blood collection centres, a super market, hardware shop, 2 bakeries and several restaurants including a RSL club and banking facilities and public library. Other services in the town include vet’s surgeries, tyre and brake and car service centre and real estate agents. There is also an aquatic centre, tennis court, bowls club, golf club. There are several schools and day care centre also. There is 1 other doctor’s surgery in the town. Nanango has a public primary and catholic primary school and a public High School. There are also opportunities in Kingaroy with schools. There are both private and public schools and there are buses which travel from Nanango to the various schools in Kingaroy.
 
Kingaroy is a larger centre and here is a general hospital and a Private Hospital.  There is also an x-ray centre and they do apart from X-rays, CT and ultrasounds.
 

Position Description:
General Practitioner is to provide comprehensive medical care to individuals, families and communities from initial consultation to follow up on simple and complex problems.
 
The practice will provide a house rent free for the first 3 months and will provide furniture if needed. Income is negotiable.
 
Main Tasks
Medical Diagnoses and treatment of diabetes mellitus and other endocrine and other metabolic diseases, respiratory diseases, digestive diseases, epilepsy, heart disease, diseases of the eye, diseases of the ear, nose and throat, skin lesions, cancer, dermatitis, sexually transmitted diseases, surgical excision of skin lesions, suturing lacerations, removal of cysts.
 
Mental Health
Treatment of depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol abuse diagnoses treatment and referral.
 
Emergency
Management of acute medical/surgical emergencies eg myocardial infarction. Able to perform tasks as vaccinations, ECG inter interpretation and emergency, pulmanory function test, liase with community supports eg community nursing for the elderly.

Qualifications & Experience: 
General Practitioner or a non VR who needs Level 2 supervision
