General Practitioner

We are seeking a focussed and experienced Doctor to join the Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) Medical Assessment team in Adelaide.  This vacancy is for a Part Time team member to work 30 hours per week ideally on Monday to Thursday.  Hours are normally 8:00am to 4:00pm, but may vary on occasion due to operational requirements.  There is the requirement to be rostered on and work some (albeit limited) Public Holidays and Saturdays.

This position is responsible for medically assessing candidates to determine their suitability for entry into the Australian Defence Forces.  Utilising your extensive medical background the successful applicant will make accurate clinical decisions that are relied upon at all stages of a candidate’s assessment and enlistment.

This role requires high level interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships as it works as part of a multidisciplinary team including Nursing, Administration, Psychology, Recruitment and Military personnel. 

The ideal candidate will have a general practice, occupational medicine or medical on-base/defence background.  Specific experience in pre-employment medicals would be desirable.  To be eligible for this position applicants must have unconditional registration with AHPRA, Australian Citizenship and be willing to undergo the Australian Defence Force (ADF) security clearance process.  Fellowship with a relevant college would be highly advantageous.
