Tin Can Bay, Cooloola Cove and Rainbow Beach combine to form the Cooloola Coast featuring the Coloured Sands cliffs, vehicular access to world heritage listed Fraser Island, hand feeding wild dolphins at Snapper Creek at Tin Can Bay, the giant Sand Blow at Rainbow Beach (a popular spot for hang gliders) and the extensive protected waterways of the Great Sandy Straits. Surrounded by national parks the area boasts numerous camping grounds, 4WDriving, hiking and recreational activities.
The Cooloola Coast is a popular retirement and tourism area and continues to grow each year. The population is over 6,000 and approaching 7,000. The other industries in our general area are fishing and forestry. Public and private schooling is available.
There are is a fabulous golf club, bowls clubs and a Country Club with many restaurants and cafes. Also, a wide range of social and special interest clubs, 2 Lions clubs and a rifle range. Tin Can Bay & Rainbow Beach have very attractive natural foreshores with playgrounds and picnic facilities and walking trails. Tin Can Bay is a popular spot for international bird watchers with 140 different species and boasts safe, shallow waters on the edge of the bay.
