  • We have an opportunity for a mental health clinician to join our team in the beautiful town of Echuca on the banks of the Murray River.


Classification: Registered Nurse (Grade 3), Social Worker (Grade 2) or Occupational Therapist (Grade 2)

Salary: $41 to $51 per hour plus superannuation dependent upon classification and experience. Relocation and accommodation support will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Hours: Fixed Term Full time (with monthly ADO) or part time can be negotiated.

You will:

  • Make a difference to other people’s lives
  • Good opportunity to gain experience in community mental health
  • Be part of a friendly and supportive integrated Community Mental Health Team
  • Be provided with direction by the Manager and team Psychiatrist
  • Treat and support patients by providing psychiatric triage, intake, assessment, treatments and short-term interventions
  • Provide psycho-education and support for patients and their families /carer(s).

About the Community Mental Health Team

As well as providing a community based adult mental health service in Bendigo, psychiatric services also has community based teams located in 5 rural areas throughout the region - Castlemaine, Kyneton, Maryborough in the South and Echuca and Swan Hill in the North. These multidisciplinary teams provide care to persons living in their communities experiencing mental illness 16 - 64 years.

Selection Criteria:


01.Current registration as Registered Nurse or Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or; Social Worker – membership, or meets the eligibility requirements for membership, with the Australian Association of Social Work.



02.Post graduate qualifications in mental health and/or related field



03.Extensive experience and expertise in community based psychiatric, assessment, support and treatment of people with a mental illness and associated complex issues



04.Extensive knowledge and experience working with the Mental Health Act and knowledge of the relevant state-wide Psychiatric Service Frameworks Procedures and Guidelines and Bendigo Health policy and procedures



05.Extensive experience in, and demonstrated commitment to, an integrated community based treatment model for people with a mental illness and associated complex issues



06.Extensive experience in liaising and consulting with relevant family members, team members, and a broad range of health professionals and community agencies



07.Demonstrated evidence of participation in education and training to other staff, and commitment to ongoing professional development



08.Computer and data entry skills



09.High level of organisational, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills



10.Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work
