About Us

First Step Therapies provides high-quality, client-centered services for adults, teens, children, and their families. We’re a team that values collaboration, clear communication, and a workplace culture built on enthusiasm and respect.

We understand that this profession isn’t just rewarding; it can also be emotionally demanding, complex, and at times overwhelming. Being part of a grounded, supportive team makes a difference. That is the environment we have built.

Why You’ll Want To Work Here

Our approach is built to support both excellent clinical work and therapist wellbeing. No unreasonable expectations and no pressure to squeeze more in.

We offer you:

• A four-day client-facing week (Monday–Thursday)

• Client-free Fridays- Dedicated to MDT team meetings, completing documentation, professional development and preparing for the following week

• A maximum of sixteen clients per week

• No KPIs

• Flexible hours (including school-friendly options)

• Time-in-lieu for any extra hours lodged

• A flexible professional development budget, plus coverage for external supervision costs up to $5,000 per year

• Work vehicles for mobile practice

• Work from home when logistics allow

• Opportunities for career development

• 4 weeks annual leave + extra paid Christmas leave

We keep the workload manageable, so you have the time and headspace to do thoughtful, ethical work and to recover from the more challenging days. Burnout doesn’t have to be part of working as an occupational therapist.

The Role

We’re looking for a skilled, compassionate occupational therapist who:

• Wants to work in a truly collaborative multidisciplinary team

• Values ethical practice and sustainable caseloads

• Wants to shape their caseload around their interests (paeds, teens, adults)

• Wants to grow and feel supported

• Conducting assessments and developing individualised treatment plans

• Providing individual and/or group therapy

• Collaborating with speech pathologists, counsellors, AHAs, and a supportive team

• Educating and guiding families, caregivers, and teachers

• Maintaining clear and accurate documentation

What Makes Us Different

We openly acknowledge that this job can be emotionally and energetically demanding. Supporting clients through complex challenges can take a toll in an environment where this is not recognised.

That’s why we:

• Cap caseloads

• Keep client numbers low

• Allow time for prep and follow-up into schedules

• Encourage open conversations about the emotional load of the work

• Maintain a team culture where support is always available

If you’re looking for a workplace that treats clients and clinicians with care, compassion, and respect, we’d love to hear from you!

Please submit your resume and cover letter.
