The Opportunity at AIA

To contribute to the success of AIA Rehabilitation through the management of a portfolio of rehabilitation cases within the AIA Best Practice Rehabilitation Framework in the areas of RTW and Employability Assessment for Milestone and TPD Claims. Provide rehabilitation strategy and advice to assist Claims deliver sustainable closures. Contribute to best practice rehabilitation initiatives and projects working across the business.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a passionate advocate for rehabilitation, Making a Difference to the lives of others and AIA’s Principles of Best Practice in Occupational Rehabilitation
  • Work in an embedded claims model with the Rehabilitation Team to provide professional, quality and results focused rehabilitation outcomes
  • Develop a partnership rehabilitation service in a constantly changing environment that best suit the Claimant, business and resource capability
  • Provide strong technical support to the Claims Team and be available for ‘walk up’s’ and case conferences
  • Coaching, development and training of the Claims Team on rehabilitation
  • Analyse information from medical reports and other relevant information,  consultation with other professionals (eg. treating doctors), and diagnostic evaluations, in order to assess the Claimants’ abilities, needs, and suitability for rehabilitation services
  • Recommend physical, academic, work experience, vocational, and other evaluations to obtain information for assessing Claimants’ needs and developing rehabilitation plans. Liaise with treating practitioners in order to develop and implement the Claimants’ rehabilitation program
  • Engage, motivate and positively influence claimants to participate in rehabilitation services. Develop and monitor rehabilitation programs to ensure success
  • Strategically analyse rehabilitation approach taking into account cost benefit analysis
  • Assess and analyse Milestone and TPD claims with a focus on Education, Training and Experience as well as work capacity 
  • Authorise rehabilitation cases for referral, expenditures and payment
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance to rehabilitation providers, taking a partnership approach to deliver results focused RTW, TPD and Milestone outcomes


Minimum/preferred Job Requirements:

  • Background in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counsellor, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Registered Nurse, Allied Health in an  Occupational Rehabilitation or Claims Management environment  – minimum 5 years experience
  • Demonstrated experience within a rehabilitation provider, clinical and claims environment
