About the job

This is not your standard new grad role.

At Centre for Developing Children (CFDC), we do occupational therapy differently.

We don’t just run sessions, we build systems around the child to create meaningful, lasting change.

We’re looking for an early career Occupational Therapist who is ready to think critically, move beyond checklists, and grow into a clinician who can genuinely impact a child’s daily life.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be working with children and young people (0–25 years) across clinic, home, school, and community settings.

Your role will include:

  • Delivering evidence-based, child-led therapy grounded in Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI) and developmental frameworks

Supporting children with:

  • Sensory processing and regulation
  • Motor coordination and praxis
  • Emotional regulation and participation
  • Daily living skills and independence
  • Translating assessment findings into functional, meaningful goals
  • Working closely with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure carryover beyond the session
  • Contributing to group programs designed to bridge therapy and real-world skills
  • Developing strong clinical reasoning, not just following plans

What Makes CFDC Different

  • Purpose-built sensory integration gym designed for real therapeutic input (not just play)
  • Strong focus on generalisation, what happens at 3pm on a Tuesday matters more than what happens in-session
  • Structured supervision and professional development
  • Exposure to clinic + community + group-based models of care
  • A team culture that values clinical thinking, accountability, and growth
  • Opportunities to be involved in educator training, workshops, and community impact initiatives

Who This Role Is For

You’re early in your career and:

  • You’re genuinely passionate about paediatrics
  • You want to understand the “why” behind what you do, not just follow activities
  • You value feedback and want to improve
  • You care about outcomes, not just ticking off sessions
  • You’re comfortable being challenged and supported at the same time

Who This Role Is Not For

Let’s be clear:

  • If you want a low-responsibility, low-accountability role → this isn’t it
  • If you rely heavily on pre-made resources without understanding clinical reasoning → this isn’t it
  • If you’re not open to feedback or growth → you won’t thrive here

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • AHPRA registration (or pending)
  • Working With Children Check
  • Police Check
  • Driver’s licence
  • NDIS Worker Screening (or willingness to obtain)

What You’ll Gain

  • A strong clinical foundation in paediatric OT
  • Mentorship in Ayres Sensory Integration® and developmental approaches
  • Confidence working across environments (clinic, school, home)
  • The ability to deliver therapy that actually translates into daily life outcomes
