Pharmacy Information:

This rural pharmacy, located 4 hours south-west of Brisbane in Goondiwindi offers a patient focused, supportive environment, ideal for a recently registered pharmacist who is keen to master their pharmacy practice. They aim to provide the best rural healthcare services to our community. This pharmacy encourages further learning and can access rural support programs for continuing education.

You will work alongside a great team, including Lucy Walker 2018 Churchill Fellowship recipient, who is passionate about advancing pharmacy scope and rural pharmacy. The pharmacy also won the overall Guild Pharmacy of the Year in 2017 and is often finalist for Pharmacy of the Year within the organisation. To assist you in providing a full vaccination and medication adherence services, through Medschecks and Dose Administrations, they embrace technology. Part of the team includes “Spencer the Dispenser” and “Blister Bill” our Synmed machine to do our blister packs. This pharmacy is taking part in a trial to deliver medications to rural communities via drone. They are the first pharmacy in Australia to trial this new technology.

Position Description:

This is a really exciting position, placing the pharmacist front and centre in the pharmacy to make an even greater impact on their customers’ health outcomes. This role is focused around proactive engagement with their customers and being directly accessible to provide trusted advice and recommendations. With extremely limited dispensing responsibility the role has a much greater emphasis on having the right conversations with our customers at the counselling bench and in the retail space. The successful applicant will be the face of our pharmacy, building trust with the community and acting as the go-to local primary care specialist Roles and Responsibilities First and foremost, you’ll be a customer facing pharmacist who can naturally converse with a wide variety of consumers. You’re out from behind the dispensary and offering advice and services to benefit our consumers.

Some roles and responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Counsel customers on their medical conditions and medications, both prescription and OTC, with the most up to date, evidence based information
  • Execute health services to the highest professional standard
  • Build and maintain relationships with local health professionals
  • Supervise, direct and coach non-professional colleagues (pharmacy assistants, dispensary technicians etc)
  • Assist in dispensary operations, including timely acceptance of prescriptions and counselling of patients Implement and follow QCPP policy and procedure to the highest standard
  • Communicate all professional, and legislative information to the team when required

Qualifications & Experience:

What’s required to be a Professional Care Pharmacist? Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (or equivalent) Current General Registration as a pharmacist (without conditions or undertakings) with AHPRA Clear and effective communication skills, with an attention to detail Be able to lead and contribute to a dynamic team You must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this job
