The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) performs its role of providing advice to the Australian Government to protect Australia, its people and interests, in a complex and ever-changing environment.
We are currently recruiting Clinical, Forensic and Organisational Psychologists to join our Psychology team in Canberra. Focus areas are varied, including undertaking psychological assessments, providing psychological advice in support of the selection and assessment of applicants to ASIO, and supporting training and development to the Organisation.
You will work in a multi-disciplinary team including dedicated Psychological staff to provide services to ASIO as an Organisation. Collaborative in your approach, you will share your knowledge and expertise to achieve excellence in delivery of psychological services.
As a Psychologist within ASIO you will deliver psychological services using your analytical, assessment and psychological risk knowledge. Your workload may include conducting psychological assessments, developing psychological advice in support of recruitment and the selection of applicants to ASIO, assessment and case management of counter intelligence risk, and/or delivery of health services including training and employee assistance programs to support and develop the ASIO workforce. These skills will be critical to supporting organisational security and the ASIO mission of identifying and investigating security threats to protect Australia.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent ethical boundaries, sound judgement, effective communication, adaptability and the ability to build effective relationships. Some domestic travel may be required, dependent on the role of the successful applicant.

As an AE6 psychologist, you will be working on some or all of the following:
- Perform a range of psychological assessments using case formulation methodology;
- Provide staff counselling;
- Undertake research and project work;
- Build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
- Provide other services and specialist input to the organisation on psychological issues; and
- Support the development and delivery of training programs.
Successful candidates will possess:
- Demonstrated experience in assessment and case formulation in an evidence-based practice framework;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate psychological opinions and advice in support of organisational functions;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and written; and
- Well-developed collaboration skills and a demonstrated ability to work well in a team.
- Master's degree or equivalent in Clinical, Forensic or Organisational Psychology;
- 2 years post-registration experience;
- Unconditional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA); and
- Eligibility for membership with the Australian Psychological Society.
