About the job...

We are seeking a dedicated Psychologist to join our inclusive, compassionate and friendly team based in Wooloowin / North Coast Schools. This position is full-time, fixed term until 31 December 2024.  Extension of employment contract beyond this date is subject to the continued successful government funding of the program.

This position will work within the Act for Kids Specialist Disability Support in Schools service (SDSS) to enhance access, participation and educational for children and young people impacted by trauma.  The Psychologist is responsible for providing an outstanding therapeutic service to students, school personnel and care team.

Key responsibilities…

  • Identify and work toward education-based student goals, to enhance access, participation and success within the educational environment.
  • Brisbane - Work collaboratively with SDSS Speech Pathologist and Occupational Therapist to best meet student needs.
  • Provide service delivery within schools across the Brisbane region or be based in schools on the North Coast SDSS team.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings for the benefit of students and develop case plans in collaboration with school personnel.
  • Maintain up-to-date output and outcomes data for all students as required by Act for Kids policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and develop your professional skills, through supervision and professional development.
  • Provide quality, timely reports as required and/or requested.

About you... 

  • Tertiary qualification in Psychology.
  • Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Membership of the Australian Psychological Society is desirable (not essential).
  • At least two years’ experience working with children, young people and their families who have been impacted by trauma, or at least five years’ experience working in similar roles.
  • Experience providing individual and group therapy to children, young people and their families.
  • Clinical and therapeutic understanding of the impacts of trauma on child and family functioning and knowledge of current trauma treatment trends.
  • A high level of cultural awareness and experience working with families from different backgrounds.
  • High level time management and case load management skills.
  • An ability to use electronic case management and reporting tools and experience using Word and Excel.

Other requirements

  • Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Applicants must be eligible to legally work in Australia and proof of eligibility may be requested.
  • Fully vaccinated with the prescribed doses of an approved vaccine against COVID-19 or have an approved medical exemption.

About the pay...

  • Position is classified Level 6 under the SCHCADS award,
  • Salary range is $92,704 - $96,805 plus 10% superannuation (pro-rata for part-time).
