Who We Are

Early Autism Services (EAS) is an established provider of home-based ABA (applied behaviour analytic) therapy with over ten years of experience implementing high quality behavioural programming worldwide. Our Australian team is currently growing at a rapid pace as our efforts to both expand the field of ABA as well as diversify our services within Australia continue. Consequently, we are currently looking for a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our in-home clinical service team.

 

Who You Are

We are looking for a Speech Language Pathologist with a passion for creating and implementing speech and language treatment programs for children with developmental disabilities in primarily home environments. An ideal candidate for this position would be eager to learn, grow and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of clinicians whose primary backgrounds are within the field of ABA. They would also be motivated to both widen the abilities of the company to provide SLP services as well as contribute to expanding the availability of services in the local community.

Position Summary:

Please note that this position is contracted at part-time permanent for 23 hours per week. The salary range listed within the job ad is listed according to these hours (pre-super).

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for creating and implementing speech and language treatment programs for 1:1 sessions with children with developmental disabilities in a primarily in-home environment. They are also responsible for collaborating with both the clinical and operational teams to ensure treatments are both high-quality in nature as well as delivered in an effective manner. This position operates within the Melbourne metropolitan area and reports directly to the branch's Clinical Director, although reporting lines may change over time.

The Speech Language Pathologist position at Early Autism Services requires, but is not limited to, the fulfillment of the following duties and responsibilities:

 

What You'll Do

  • Performing comprehensive diagnostic evaluations on children, primarily ages 2-7
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and documenting evaluation results
  • Working with ABA personnel to create and implement comprehensive treatment plans in which both ABA and SLP services effectively complement one-another
  • Competently review current ABA treatment plans and utilise behavioural contingency-based strategies where appropriate
  • Developing patient care plans with appropriate short and long-term goals
  • Maintaining records in compliance with local regulations, NDIS requirements and job

Responsibilities

  • Planning and providing evidence-based in-home SLP services according to individual needs and goals
  • Collaborating with both clinical and operational teams in a professional and effective manner
  • Demonstrating cultural competence while working with clients and their families
  • Performing routine documentation of client performance including daily session notes with objective data, progress reports, and re-evaluation reports as needed
  • Providing family education and training to assist in carryover of skills into a client's daily living

Environment

  • Providing services both in-school and other community environments as needed
  • Maintain status as a Certified Practicing Member of Speech Pathology Australia as well as any other requirements necessary to bill for services provided to NDIS-funded clients
  • Engaging in frequent professional development such that both credentialing and standards of competency are maintained
  • Adhering to ethical standards of the profession as defined by the Speech Pathology Australia Code of Ethics

 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Either a Bachelor's or Master's-level degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Status as a Certified Practicing Member of Speech Pathology Australia
  • One or more year's experience evaluating and treating children with developmental disabilities
  • Preferred one year of experience in an in-home disability service provider environment
  • Preferred one year of experience delivering supports as a part of multidisciplinary teams which also included licensed ABA service providers
  • Familiarity with the NDIS Code of Conduct and practice standards

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication skills to work with a diverse
  • Leadership skills which maintain healthy relationships between team members
  • Basic computer skills and be able to use all required
  • Ability to problem-solve and assist in decision-making independently including during emergencies
  • Maintain competency in the field of Speech Language Pathology as defined by both company standards as well as the standards of Speech Pathology Australia
  • Work productively to develop relationships with individuals, families, and community members, and other healthcare/education professionals
  • Able to demonstrate creative abilities, strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills and good customer service skills
  • Have a valid Driver's license, reliable transportation and a good driving record
  • Have a cleared Working With Children's Check and Police Clearance Checks
  • Have an active First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • Maintain a high level of organization for electronic client file maintenance, daily, weekly and monthly record keeping

 

Additional Position Details

Work Environment

This job operates primarily in both clients' homes as well as a remote environment. As such, it is important that any individual in the position be able to collaborate well with different personalities, thrive in an environment with little in-person supervision and communicate well utilizing remote means of communication when necessary.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position may require standing and walking for long shifts. Seeing, smelling, repetitive motion and lifting objects weighing up to 23 kilograms at a time are required for this position.
