The Institute for Social Neuroscience (ISN) utilises cutting-edge research and clinical training together with its college, ISN Psychology, to educate the next generation of psychologists. ISN Psychology offers APAC accredited degrees in psychology which include undergraduate, Honours and Master degrees. ISN Psychology has its main campus in Ivanhoe within the Austin precinct.  It is supported by ISN Clinic providing expert clinical care to the community with clinics based in Ivanhoe and Bundoora with Telehealth offerings.  

Our new clinic in Bundoora is situated over approximately 280 square meters of space in a new medical permitted building at 7 Ormond Boulevard, Bundoora within the University Hill shopping precinct. Designed for interdisciplinary learning with the capacity to host allied and medical professionals, ISN Clinic provides services through the management of field and onsite placements of provisional psychologists.  We seek a Senior Lecturer who will partake in the clinical teaching and supervision of provisional psychologists with their primary responsibility as the Clinic Director of ISN Clinical placement services. 

Qualifications & experience

  • A Doctoral or Masters level qualification in clinical psychology; AHPRA Psychologist registration with Clinical Psychology area of practice endorsement; and Board approved supervisor status of HDR students as per AHPRA standards.
  • Experience in the clinical supervision of provisionally registered and fully registered psychologists.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated excellence in problem solving ability and conflict resolution skill.
  • Experience in business management of private clinic services, with sound financial judgement, and ability to manage large teams.
  • Experience in providing and managing psychological services over a variety of settings including settings involving communication and care across allied and medical professionals.
  • Desirable - Understanding of and experience with relevant software for Telehealth and digital communication, placement software (e.g. InPlace) and clinic management software.
  • Excellent end-user computer literacy with Microsoft or Mac operating systems and word processing software. 
Tasks & responsibilities
The Clinic Director of placement services will have:
  • The responsibility to manage and facilitate placement activities and supervision of provisional psychologists within ISN Clinic.
  • Provide clinical supervision of provisional psychologists both individually and in groups, and support to resolve clinical issues as they arise to students undertaking placements in the ISN Clinic.
  • Oversee and ensure continuity of ISN Clinic's placement activities.
  • Support placement coordinators and Directors of Clinical Programs.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of psychological services provided at ISN Clinic.
  • Follow best practice guidelines for the maintenance of ethical and empirically supported assessment and treatment services.
  • Promote ISN Clinic services and develop referral opportunities and pathways including expansion of service arrangements for provisional psychologists.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical classes in clinical and professional psychology at postgraduate level using innovative, flexible, and stimulating course material and teaching methods.
  • Contribute to the teaching administration of ISN by participating in committees both internal and external to ISN Psychology.
  • Keep abreast of national and international trends and outcomes that make significant contributions to the advancement of psychology knowledge and its applications.
  • Work within the border clinical team and report to management responsible for overall ISN Clinic and ISN Psychology general operations.
