192987 - Diabetes Update - devices & data

  • : Online

This workshop will cover glucose monitoring and diabetes technologies and understanding devices and interpreting continuous glucose data. We will discuss new insulins and diabetes therapies and a consumer will give their perspective on using these devices.

Relevance to General Practice

There are an estimated 1.2 million people aged 2 and over (5.1% of the population) with diagnosed diabetes in Australia. Of those who reported having been diagnosed with diabetes in 2014-15, 85% reported having type 2 diabetes (an estimated 1,002,000 people), 13.5% reported having type 1 diabetes (an estimated 158,900 people) (source 1). In 2013, an estimated 6,091 children aged 0-14 had type 1 diabetes (source 2). General Practitioners play an important role for people with diabetes as they are a critical source of medical advice, information and support.
