141473 - Ultrasound in Anaesthetics 4-Day Course

  • : Online

This four-day course is designed for clinicians with interest in resuscitation, retrieval and critical care. Two days of cardiac, lung and I.V.C. scanning will give you tools to assess a critically ill patient and then guide and monitor your management. Two days specifically dedicated to regional analgesia will greatly expand your repertoire of peripheral nerve blocks, core and trunk blocks. With these new tools you can alleviate the pain of several critical procedures, transport your patient in comfort or reduce their fracture on site without recourse to procedural sedation.

Relevance to General Practice

General practitioners play an essential role regarding primary diagnosis and management plan. A good example is that the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners has recently requested the department of Health and Aging for a detail review regarding of funding arrangements for diagnosis imaging services [1]. Additionally, general practitioners performing real-time point of care ultrasound study has been supported by numerous trials when equipment, documentation and appropriate training are available [3-6]. The Curriculum for Australian General Practice, which defines the learning pathways in general practice, outlines that appropriate procedures should be undertaken, documented and aftercare with informed consent to maintain quality care, under the core Domain 2 - Applied professional Knowledge and skilled [2]. It is well established that ultrasound training requires training and continuous practice which is the main focus of this course.
