143375 - Hot Topics Series Webcast - 30/10/18

  • : Online

This webcast is designed to provide the most up-to-date information, latest research, and practical information regarding COPD Management, Managing Eczema in Infants and Children & Meningitis in Infants and Adolescents. This is a webcast of three lectures from a day conference to make the material available to rural GPs.

Relevance to General Practice

Atopic dermatitis is a common condition presented to GPs. Practical advice on the prevention and management of atopic dermatitis in babies and children will be presented. The risks and benefits of topical corticosteroids and calcineurin receptor antagonists will be covered in detail and how to maximise benefits.
Meningitis remains a frightening disease with high morbidity and mortality. A recent rise in the incidence of invasive meningococccal disease in Australia has prompted new vaccination programs targeting adolescents.
COPD management is important for GPs and this workshop will look at; the correct ways to use inhalers prescribed for COPD patients, including various tricks to make sure that patients are getting the drugs from the devices into their lungs; the positive and negative features of each inhaler so that the most appropriate inhaler for each patient can be chosen; and the drugs available in each inhaler and where they fit into COPD management.
