The aim of this program is to provide learners with the opportunity to consolidate, revise and practice trauma management skills in a team based approach for emergency presentations in rural environments.

  • Implement and demonstrate a structured approach to the critically ill trauma patient and initiate simultaneous resuscitation using the ABCDE assessment
  • Recognise and summarise crucial trauma management principles
  • Demonstrate and perform skills in essential trauma procedures such as plastering, suturing, vascular access and chest drain insertion
  • List the critical aspects in burns management
  • Recognise the unique clinical challenges in the assessment & management of trauma in special populations
