Wheezing is one of the most common symptoms in children. It has been reported that by age three, about one third of children will have a wheezing episode, and most of these are be related to transient conditions such as viral infections. Wheezing can be the result of a wide variety of disorders, from a benign, self-limited viral respiratory infections to more complex chronic lung diseases such as cystic fibrosis.
