Relevance to General Practice

CVD is a major cause of death in Australia with 45,392 deaths attributed to CVD in Australia in 2015. CVD kills one Australian every 12 mins. It is one of Australia’s largest health problems and despite improvement over the last few decades it remains one of the biggest burdens in our economy, The local PHN needs assessment data for the Manly Warringah series reflects this and the GPs identified certain that they need an update in strategies to recognise and manage their cardiac patients. The Cardiology series will focus on common cardiology in general practice and an overall update in diagnostic tools, risk prevention and management.
