159360 - How to Treat Live - Cardiometabolic Health Update 2019
- : Online
This seminar has been developed to assist GPs with evidence-based strategies for preventing, identifying and managing cardiometabolic disease in primary care. GPs will receive practical information on the latest treatment options and proven methods for dealing with this complex general practice challenge. Interactive case studies will help optimise GPs' management approach, through practical lifestyle modifications and tailored therapies. Topics covered include diabetes, obesity, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, heart failure, heart disease in women and chronic kidney disease.Relevance to General Practice
As cardiovascular disease (CVD) accounts for 36% of all deaths and almost 7% of all disability in Australia, it is important for GPs to be educated and up-skilled on strategies for preventing, identifying and managing cardiometabolic disease in primary care. This will assist in the assessment of overall CVD risk in the management of modifiable risk factors including smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, dyslipidaemia, obesity and poor lifestyle. GPs will also learn how best to prioritise management issues in the multi-morbid patient (CVD, AF, T2DM, CKD).
