159963 - GPCE - Management of the emergency patient in the primary and remote setting ALM
This activity has been developed to assist the general practitioner to identify the risk of medical emergencies and learn how to lead a non-professional team in managing the emergency in a general practice that requires extended care and preparation of the patient for Aero medical evacuation or road transfer. It is inline with current best practice at a level above basic life support but below highly specialized care. It is derived form the Victorian Guidelines for Ambulance Officers and the NSW Protocols for ambulance officers and paramedics. The training complies with the Australian Resuscitation Councils guidelines and the findings of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation. Participants will learn a range of advanced life support skills, including intravenous access, drug therapy and intraossious care, as well as crew resource management skills.
Relevance to General PracticeThe purpose of the training is to provide the GP with up to date knowledge on the current consensus management of common medical emergencies and to provide the GP with the confidence and skills required for them to effectively oversight the care of the patient and prepare the patient for medical evacuation.
