Relevance to General PracticeMost of the continuing professional development available to General Practitioners relates to the medical and clinical aspects of their profession. However, doctors often also need business, financial knowledge and skills in order to successfully manage their medical practice. A key to this is ensuring that the GP and Practice Manager know how to get the best out of their business Among other things, they need to know how to maximize the efficiency of their office operations, understand the basics of office finances, Medicare billings and its revenue cycle. The aim of the proposed course will be to provide specific training for doctors and practice managers to help them develop financial and business skills that will help them in managing their medical practice. This course will teach GPs and PMs about critical commercial and business acumen required to effectively run a practice.
