162424 - Medical Abortion Education and Networking Workshop

  • : Online

Medical abortion can be safely and effectively provided in primary care with appropriate follow up and emergency arrangements. With the availability of medication for medical abortion (MS2Step) and the legislative support that enables a woman’s right to choose, primary care providers have an opportunity to incorporate medical abortion care into practice.
The event provides information on the clinical & practice considerations for medical abortion service delivery and the available supports and referral pathways for providers in their local area.

Relevance to General Practice

This series of workshops aims to bring together GPs, practice nurses and other relevant local stakeholders to share information about the clinical & systems considerations for providing safe medical abortion services in Gippsland. The overarching aim is aligned with the Victorian Government’s Victorian Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Key Priorities 2017 – 2020 report which prioritises “access to contemporary, safe and equitable fertility control services to enable Victorians to exercise their reproductive rights” [1].
