162469 - How to Treat quiz: Gout

  • : Online
Relevance to General Practice

Gout is a well understood and eminently treatable condition. However, it is often under- or sub-optimally treated. The reasons for undertreatment relate to a number of non-evidence-based patient and physician factors, with the consequence of poor adherence to straightforward treatment regimens.
Understanding and addressing these reasons can improve patients’ quality of life by eliminating attacks and preventing the development of joint destruction and tophus formation.
