179654 - ABC of CBT: Skills for GPs
- : Online
Psychological presentations are increasingly common in general practice. For many people, psychological care delivered by their regular general practitioner is both an acceptable and accessible starting point to seeking help for their emotional health.
Our ABC of CBT: Skills for GPs program provides GPs with a broad range of psychological skills readily applied in a general practice setting. Successful completion of the program also fulfills the criteria for FPS 2 accreditation allowing GPs to access Medicare item numbers 2721, 2723, 2725 and 2727 for the delivery of focused psychological strategies.
In order for GPs to increasingly incorporate psychological treatments in the management of common mental health conditions, there is a need for further training to build skills and confidence in providing these treatments. Our new 20 hour FPS training program for general practitioners focuses on teaching GPs evidence based cognitive behavioural strategies that are easily implemented in general practice with an emphasis on skills practice specific to general practice mental health.Learning outcomes
