Relevance to General PracticeExcessive daytime sleepiness is a common symptom in general practice. This may be due to conditions such as sleep deprivation, insomnia, or obstructive sleep apnoea; or alternatively a result of a primary hypersomnolence condition such as narcolepsy. Circadian rhythm disorders, chronic medical and psychiatric conditions, and medications are other common causes of excessive daytime sleepiness.
