Learn about the different types of urticaria, new treatment updates, the factors that influence treatment decisions, and appropriate non-pharmacological and pharmacological management strategies.
This module includes educational videos and practical case studies provided by Professor Connie Katelaris, Professor of Immunology & Allergy, University of Western Sydney.

Learning outcomes
  • Distinguish between the three types of urticaria (acute, chronic spontaneous and inducible (physical) urticaria and be familiar with differential diagnoses
  • Understand the non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatment options available for urticaria, including potential side effects.
  • Apply current guideline algorithms to appropriately increase treatment if required, and a process for ongoing patient monitoring.
  • Analyse patient questionnaires to understand the impact of urticaria on a patient’s quality of life, as well as strategies for assessing disease activity and treatment response
  • Identify when referral to an immunologist or dermatologist is required.
