The 52854WA Graduate Diploma of Dermal Science is developed for candidates from a beauty or health background wanting to achieve a formal and recognised qualification in dermal science. The objective of the qualification is to provide graduates with the knowledge and hands-on skills to perform a range of safe and effective dermal therapies and meet the employment needs of a modern cosmetic medical clinic. The Dermal Therapist’s Scope of Practice includes patient consultation and assessment, dermatoscopy, laser and light-based therapies, epidermal resurfacing procedures, skin/micro needling and holistic patient care involving the integration between gut health and dermatology.

This course describes the steps to become a successful Dermal Therapist in Australia. The course material is designed to help undergraduate candidates make an informed decision about pursuing a career in aesthetics and graduate candidates (those currently working in a health or beauty related field), determine which educational pathway will meet their career goals. The main topics of the course include:

  1. An overview of the aesthetics industry, future growth and forecasts
  2. A dermal therapist’s scope of practice
  3. Governance and regulation of the aesthetic industry
  4. Best practice standards in dermal therapies
  5. How to launch your career as a Dermal Therapist

The course will take you approximately two hours to complete inclusive of all readings and downloads. On course completion, you will have a sound understanding of the aesthetics industry and the various roles dermal therapists have.

Completing the ‘Becoming a Successful Dermal Therapist’ short course is great preparation for a career up-skill in 2024, especially if you’re considering moving into the field of aesthetics or ready to start your journey.
