88416 - Hepatitis B s100 Prescriber Course

  • : Online

This training will enable GPs to effectively diagnose, manage and treat chronic hepatitis B in the primary care setting. Successful completion of the training and assessment will accredit community-based medical practitioners to prescribe s100 highly specialised drugs for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B

Relevance to General Practice

It is projected that incidences of hepatitis B will continue to increase over the next 10 years, as such, there is a clear need for training that enables GPs to effectively diagnose, treat and monitor chronic hepatitis B (CHB) in the primary care setting. Given the prevalence of CHB in endemic countries, such as those in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, this is of particular need for GPs who have patient cohorts from culturally and linguistically diverse populations or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities - another high prevalence population. Recent changes to the PBS allow for the initiation and maintenance of hepatitis B treatment to be prescribed by trained and accredited General Practitioners. This Active Learning Module will accredit community-based medical practitioners to prescribe s100 highly specialised drugs for the treatment of CHB.
