95073 - SCARD Skin Cancer Surgical Audit

  • : Online

The aim of the SCARD surgical audit is to provide practitioners with a management tool to manage the diagnosis and treatment of skin malignancies in a primary care environment.

By implementing a self-auditing process, practitioners can evaluate the diagnostic & treatment methods used for both accuracy and adequacy respective to histological results. Use of diagnostic aids (such as Sequential Digital Imaging, Total Body Photography, Dermatoscopy) and algorithms (including Chaos & Clues and BLINK) are also assessed for effectiveness within primary care.

The surgical audit also contains a reporting platform that allows reports to be generated for specific time periods for statistical and visual options for cohort comparison. The SCARD Skin Cancer Surgical Audit combined data pool contains over 780,000 lesions with comparative periods available for the past 10 years; enabling participants to reflect over their historical records.

Relevance to General Practice

Australia has one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world. Early detection and treatment of skin cancer is vital to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with this disease.
