ALS2: Advanced Life Support Recertification 1 Day Program

The ALS2 recertification course is an intensive 1-day course refresher providing the standardised approach to resuscitation in adults. It has been designed for medical, nursing & paramedical staff from critical care areas that have completed and currently hold a current ALS2 provider certificate. The course encourages a multidisciplinary approach to teaching and learning reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of the course encouraging development of team dynamics in an emergency.

Pre-reading of the 200 page Advanced Life Support Level 2 Third Australian Edition manual with a 120 question MCQ.
Scenario-based assessment and 120 question MCQ.
Causes & Prevention of Cardiac arrest

-> Advanced Life Support Algorithm
-> Emergency drugs
-> Initial Resuscitation and Defibrillation
-> Post Resuscitation Care
-> Peri-arrest arrhythmias - recognition and treatment

Continuous assessment of:
- ABCDE approach to patient assessment
- Airway Management
- Initial Resuscitation & Defibrillation
Final assessment is based on clinical scenarios and multiple-choice questionnaire.
Eligible for 1 day Procedural Grant under the Emergency or Anaesthetics component.
