EMET Townsville Hub - Intubation, Ventilation and Oxylog
This three hour workshop presented by Dr Jan Sadewasser, Staff Specialist in Emergency Medicine (FACEM) Townsville Hospital and will cover the latest care and management of trauma patients specific to emergency department teams (medical and nursing staff) of rural and remote hospitals and General Practitioners of rural and remote medical centres.
Dr Jan Sadewasser will present an interactive tutorial on Emergency intubation, ventilation and utilisation of the local ventilator (i.e. Draeger Oxylog).

Learning objective
1. Preparation, Execution and Problem Solving of Emergency Intubation/RSI in a range of clinical scenarios.
2. Ventilation Strategies and Problem Solving of the ventilated patient.
3. Non-Invasive Ventilation Strategies, Indications – Contraindications, Problem Solving.
4. Difficult Ventilation Scenarios and Strategies to find and correct ventilation associated problems (i.e. desaturation, alarming ventilators).

Assessment is primarily based on participation in discussion. All participants are required to satisfy the facilitator by demonstrating a clear understanding of the skills outlined above through verbal discussion and application of skills utilising manikins
