GP Antenatal Shared Care and Maternity Services Seminar - West Gladstone -

This update is for general practitioners who wish to undertake antenatal shared care with the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service. The evening seminar provides the opportunity to review and update a wide range of maternity care topics and to develop professional networks across primary care and hospital settings. GPs, GP registrars, hospital doctors and others with an interest in maternity care are invited to attend.

- Identify current recommendations for screening before, during and after pregnancy
- Review the current process of clinical handover between the maternity team members and General Practitioners and discuss possible quality improvements
- Describe and reflect on your own practice approach to antenatal care and identify potential improvements.
- Summarise best practice recommendations for managing common pregnancy concerns including iron deficiency, anaemia, thyroid disorders, nutrition and AOD use.
Shared Maternity Care represents an opportunity to practice collaborative holistic obstetric care by combining the varied skills of midwife, general practitioner and obstetrician to the benefit of the community and mutual understanding between colleagues.
An update for General Practitioners who wish to continue to undertake antenatal shared care in collaboration with the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service will assist timely clinical intervention for patients in an evidenced informed way
