LAIB module explained

Why is this important?

Two formulations of long-acting injectable buprenorphine (LAIB) (also known as depot buprenorphine) are available in Australia: Buvidal and Sublocade. They have been validated as an appropriate treatment for opioid use disorder.

What is your role?

Pharmacists play an essential role within the multidisciplinary team responsible for the provision of clinical review of patients in a pharmacotherapy program. Close collaboration and effective communication between the pharmacist and other members of the multidisciplinary team is required for the safe and effective delivery of pharmacotherapy services.

What’s in it for you?

This training module will provide you with the relevant knowledge, skills and tools required to administer long-acting injectable buprenorphine in a safe and client-focused environment. The training will help to ensure the consistency and safety of delivery of services offered throughout Australia.
